Kootenay Teen-upcomingKootenay Teen Book Club

Talk books with teens across the Kootenays and meet the authors in this online book club! The first half we have a discussion about the book, and in the second half we have the author come talk to us! Authors we have met with include Susin Nielsen, Susan Juby, and Kenneth Oppel! Who knows who we will have visit next? To get a copy of the next book and the zoom link for the event, contact kootenayteenbookclub@gmail.com

Check out the videos of our talks with the authors!

MDBC-2 age groupsMother-Daughter Book Clubs

We currently offer two Mother Daughter Book Clubs,  one for younger girls (ages 11-13) and one for older girls (ages 14-16).  The Mother Daughter Book Club (ages 14-16) is a long-standing group that is always open to new members! Each month, the mothers and daughters read the same book that is provided by the library and then we meet online to discuss. Kootenay Girls: A Mother Daughter Book Club is a new club for ages 11-13. It was started in partnership between the Nelson Library and CBAL Nelson and CBAL Slocan Valley. Each month, the mothers and daughters read the same book that is provided by the library and then we meet online to discuss.  Please note that for both of these groups, all sorts of pairings are welcome. Girls can bring their grandmothers, aunts, neighbours, mentors, cousins, any female figure.
