The library aims to support local artists and give them a platform to share their work with the community.
Art in the library fosters learning and discovery, and should align with the library’s strategic priorities as outlined in our Strategic Framework. Applications are open to everyone but artists from Nelson and/or art that is relevant to the community will be given priority. We have a gallery wall that is 19.5 wide and 5 feet tall. There is a track system installed, along with moveable hanging hooks. We also have 8 chrome frames (19inches x 15 inches; matted 10 x 13) that are available for use.
If your exhibit is selected for display in the library, you will be presented with an Art Exhibition Contract to sign and your work will be up for two months. Please note, we are often booked months in advance. You can either have your art publicly for sale or not – it’s up to you. We take a 20% commission for the gallery on all works sold.
