Friends of the Library
“Everybody Needs a Friend!”
The Friends is a group dedicated to improving the services and facilities offered at the Nelson Public Library through creative fundraising and community networking ideas. An active group for many years, the Friends efforts are instrumental in the Library’s procurement of necessary technologies, furnishings and program supplies.
The Friends organize two used book sales from which a significant portion of the proceeds is donated to the Library for the purchase of new books.
If you are interested in becoming a Friend, we meet the second Tuesday of every month from noon until 1 p.m. in the Library Event Room. Meetings are relaxed, friendly and productive – bring a bag lunch and enthusiasm. In July and August we meet at Lakeside Park for an informal bag lunch and socializing – fun!
We welcome new members – its a great way to meet people and contribute to a vital and important part of your community. For more information: contact the library , email email@example.com, or call Chair Sara Judith at 250-352-5218.
If you’d like to donate books, DVDs, and other materials for the booksales, please limit your donations to items that fall into all of these categories:
- Items in very good condition
- Items five years old or newer, or recognized classics
- Items of high interest
Please note that the library cannot accept donations of: magazines, textbooks, Reader’s Digest condensed books, encyclopedias, or items in poor physical conditions.
Thanks for your help!
