Can’t find what you need in our collection? Use our Interlibrary Loan service to borrow from libraries across British Columbia.

BC InterLibrary Connect

With BC InterLibrary Connect, you can easily search and borrow from other BC libraries right from our online catalogue.

  1. In the catalogue, set the search library to BC Interlibrary Connect.
  2. Enter the title you’re looking for.
  3. Your search results will show items available across the BC ILC network.
  4. Place a hold and select Nelson Public Library or your preferred pickup location.
  5. We’ll notify you when your item arrives.
  6. Return items to the library where you picked them up by the due date.

Pro Tip: Narrow your search by selecting a format like audiobook, movie, or large print. Many libraries lend a range of formats for your convenience.

Illume

If the title you’re looking for isn’t available through BC InterLibrary Connect, try Illume – a catalogue that connects you to even more BC libraries, including collections from post-secondary institutions. Note that some requests may incur fees, so please check with our staff for details.

  1. Access Illume (no login required).
  2. Use Advanced Search to refine your search by title, author, ISBN, or other criteria.
  3. Click “Search * Records” in the bottom right to view available items across BC.
  4. Select a title for more details, which will open in a new window.
  5. To request an item, click “Request this Item” and enter your last name, first name, and phone number.
  6. Submit your request, and feel free to continue browsing.
